Website is down – after changing main IP in VestaCP will cause failure
Hello, I have an old VPS with CentOS 7 with VestaCP. In urgent matter i needed to change the IP address of the VPS that is configured with DHCP to the new one. After reboot, the nginx service will not start, as well as the httpd
The solution:
1. Log in your server with SSH
2. Execute command: /usr/local/vesta/bin/v-update-sys-ip
3. If needed, restart nginx / httpd: service nginx restart && service httpd restart
After this, your domains will be assigned to new IP. Do not forget to change DNS records after. 🙂
Also, please note, that if you are using the VestaCP control panel, you do not receive any updates, because the project is almost dead. Instead of using buggy web panel, switch to fork of VestaCP – HestiaCP – https://www.hestiacp.com. It is developed meantime, has live community, supports fresh OS, such as like:
- Debian 10
- Debian 11
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
